Building a comprehensive tag library no longer means creating every tag by hand. You can now import up to 500 tags at once from a CSV file, making it faster to set up a new workspace, migrate an existing taxonomy, or expand the way your team categorises feedback.
What’s new
- Bulk tag creation: Upload a CSV from Settings → Tags to create hundreds of tags in one import.
- Downloadable template: Start with Novella’s ready-to-use CSV template so your columns are formatted correctly.
- Sentiment support: Assign each imported tag a positive, neutral, negative, or no-sentiment classification.
- Optional descriptions: Include guidance for your team on when each tag should be used.
- Duplicate protection: Novella skips tag names that already exist in your workspace, as well as repeated names within the uploaded file.
- Import validation: The file is checked before any tags are created, with clear feedback if a row needs attention.
Why it matters
A consistent tag library is the foundation for useful feedback analysis. Bulk import helps teams get that structure in place quickly and reduces repetitive setup work, especially when transferring an established taxonomy from another system or preparing a large set of tags for upcoming surveys.
Get started
- Go to Settings → Tags.
- Select Download template in the Import tags from CSV section.
- Add your tags using the 'tag_name', 'sentiment', and 'description' columns.
- Save the file as a CSV, then choose it in Novella and select Import tags.
- Review the confirmation message and your newly created tags.
Imports can contain up to 500 tags and must be no larger than 1 MB. Valid sentiment values are 'positive', 'neutral', 'negative', and 'none'.
