Integrating Novella with Microsoft Teams

This guide shows how to connect Novella to Microsoft Teams so new survey responses can be shared automatically in a team channel.

What you can do with this integration

After connecting Teams, you can:

• automatically post new Novella survey responses to a Teams channel,
• choose the team and channel where responses are posted,
• change the selected channel or disconnect Teams at any time.

Messages appear as the Microsoft user who connected the integration.

Before you start

• Make sure you can access Settings → Integrations in Novella.
• Use a Microsoft work or school account that belongs to the team and can post in the channel you want to use.
• Your organization may require a Microsoft administrator to approve the requested permissions.

Connect Microsoft Teams

1. In Novella, go to Settings → Integrations.
2. In the Microsoft Teams section, click Connect Teams.
3. Sign in with your Microsoft work or school account.
4. Review the permissions and approve the connection. If your organization requires administrator approval, ask your Microsoft administrator to grant it.
5. Return to Novella. The Teams card will show Connected and the name of the connected Microsoft user.

Connecting your Microsoft account does not start notifications until you save a destination channel.

Choose a team and channel

1. In Settings → Integrations, find the Microsoft Teams section.
2. Select a team from Select team.
3. Select a channel from Select channel.
4. Click Save channel.

The card will show the selected team and channel. New survey responses will be posted there as the connected Microsoft user.

Test the integration

1. Submit a new test response to one of your Novella surveys.
2. Check the selected Teams channel for the response message.

Delivery can take a few minutes. Responses submitted before the integration was connected are not posted retroactively.

Troubleshooting

I don't see “Connect Teams”

Ask your Novella workspace admin to check whether the Teams integration is available for your workspace.

My team or channel is missing

• Confirm you signed in with the Microsoft account that belongs to the team.
• Check that the account can access and post in the desired channel in Teams.
• Select the team first, then wait for its channels to load.
• If access or permissions have changed, click Reconnect Teams and try again.

Messages are not appearing in Teams

• Confirm the correct team and channel are shown in the Teams card.
• Submit a new response after saving the channel, then allow a few minutes for delivery.
• Check that the connected Microsoft user can still post in that channel.
• Click Reconnect Teams if the account's access or consent has changed. If delivery still fails, contact Novella support.

Change or disconnect the integration

To change where responses are posted, select another team and channel in Settings → Integrations, then click Save channel.

To stop posting responses, click Disconnect Teams in the Microsoft Teams section. You can connect again later.
