How to add the Novella Email embed snippet to a signature in HubSpot Conversations Inbox

Use this guide to place a Novella Email survey embed in signatures used by the HubSpot Conversations Inbox.

Before you start

• Copy the Novella Email embed snippet from the survey you want to send.
• Decide whether you want to update a team inbox signature (shared inbox) or your personal signature used while replying from Conversations Inbox.
• If a signature is already in place, decide exactly where the survey should appear (usually below your sign-off).

Step-by-step (team/shared inbox signature)

1. In HubSpot, go to Settings.
2. Navigate to Inbox & Help Desk > Inboxes (wording can vary slightly by portal).
3. Open the inbox you use for Conversations.
4. Find the signature section for that inbox (team signature or connected channel signature area).
5. If a signature already exists, place your cursor where the survey should appear.
6. If no signature exists yet, enter your normal signature text first (name, role, contact info).
7. Switch to the HTML/source editor mode if needed.
8. Paste the Novella embed snippet.
9. Save the inbox settings.
10. Send a test reply from Conversations Inbox and verify rendering in a real inbox.

Step-by-step (when editing from a conversation reply composer)

1. 1. Open a conversation thread in CRM > Inbox (or your Help Desk workspace).
2. 2. Start a reply and open signature settings from the composer if your portal exposes signature editing there.
3. 3. Insert or update your signature content.

If there is already a signature vs. no signature yet

If a signature already exists:

• Keep your current sign-off intact.
• Add one blank line, then paste the Novella embed block.
• Avoid wrapping the snippet in extra styled containers.

If no signature exists yet:

• Add basic signature text first.
• Paste the Novella embed snippet below it.
• Save once, then send yourself a test from Conversations Inbox.

Snippet sanity check (important)

Before using it live, confirm the pasted block still has:

• Table-based HTML layout.
• One link per score option.
• HTML-safe separators (`&`) in URL query parameters.
• Correct score URL pattern (each score link maps to the intended destination).

Paste the snippet as generated by Novella. Avoid manually rewriting link parameters inside `href` attributes.

Troubleshooting

Signature editor strips formatting

Some HubSpot editors sanitize HTML. Re-paste in source/HTML mode and keep the embed snippet on its own block.

Signature appears in preview but not delivered as expected

Always validate from a received email in an actual mailbox, not editor preview only.

Team members see inconsistent behavior

Confirm everyone is sending from the same inbox and that the signature source (team vs personal) is the one you updated.

Best practices

• Keep the survey directly below your sign-off for visibility.
• Keep surrounding formatting simple.
• Re-test after changing survey scale/labels in Novella.
