Use this article to add a Novella Email survey embed to your personal email signature in HubSpot.
Before you start
- Copy the Novella Email embed snippet from your survey.
- Confirm which personal signature you are editing (some portals support multiple signature profiles).
Step-by-step
- In HubSpot, click the settings icon.
- Go to General > Email (or your user profile email-signature area, depending on portal layout).
- Locate Email signature.
- If an existing signature is present, place the cursor where you want to insert the survey.
- If no signature exists yet, create your standard signature first (name/title/contact details).
- Open HTML/source mode in the signature editor.
- Paste the Novella embed snippet.
- Save your profile/email settings.
- Send a test email from your connected inbox through HubSpot.
- Validate in a real inbox that score links are visible and clickable.
If a signature already exists vs. no signature yet
Existing signature already set:
- Keep your current signature text.
- Add spacing (usually one line break).
- Paste the Novella snippet below your signature text.
No signature set yet:
- Add signature identity details first, or skip if you don't want to have a signature.
- Paste the Novella embed snippet under those details.
- Save and run a test send immediately.
Snippet sanity check (important)
Make sure your final signature still includes:
- Email-safe table layout.
- Separate score links (one per value).
- Preserved URL parameters with `&` inside `href`.
- Expected HubSpot personalization tokens if your workflow uses them.
Do not manually convert `&` to `&` in HTML source.
Troubleshooting
Personalization tokens show as plain text
This can happen in certain editor modes or contexts. Verify token support in your HubSpot email type and re-test with a real contact record.
Signature styling breaks around the embed
Remove extra nested formatting around the snippet and keep the embed block separate from custom styled elements.
Different behavior between desktop and mobile clients
Minor rendering differences are common. Prioritize functional checks: links should be present, clickable, and routed correctly.
Best practices
- Keep the snippet close to your sign-off.
- Avoid heavy custom CSS in signatures.
- Re-test after editing your personal signature template.
